There is more to this beyond running like a mad woman!
This morning I woke up and it was 63 degrees outside so I decided to fore go the gym and head out my front door for my first early morning run of the year.
I ran outdoors three times last week, including my long run however that was after work and mid-morning. I live in a wooded neighborhood and call me crazy, but I am that person that is a 'worse case scenario' kinda gal. I always think someone will sneak up on me while I am jamming away to my tunes and throw me in the woods left for dead - I know, that is so stupid but it always freaks me out. Regardless, I put my brave girl undies on and ran. I set my iPhone to map my run and I was off. I felt like I was flying - seriously. i kept thinking my pace seemed fast but it was just my imagination, I was sure. When I got home I checked my phone and I had run 4 miles (holy cow). I always thought it was maybe a 3 mile route but sure enough, it's 4. I felt great, like I could run further but I needed to start getting ready for the day.
On Saturday I ran my 10 miles and that unfortunately did not fly by. On my way out to the 5 mile point I felt great, on my way back, I started to feel the sluggishness and like I wanted to quit. i think my problem was lack of hydration. I had myself a few adult beverages the evening before with friends and I definitely have not been drinking enough water. Not to mention I had a stomach bug the week before that left me depleted of water as well. So, add that up and Saturday was tough. I did however feel great running 10 miles. do you know how far that is??? I know, 10 miles, but I have never run that far at one time in my life... and probably have never walked that far at one time either. Kinda proud of myself for not giving in.
Since I have embarked on this adventure I decided to get myself a hydration belt. It only has one bottle and a little place to store some money and my ID but I think that will work just fine. I also bought myself a spy belt for my shorter runs to hold my iPhone, ID and money. This way it isn't bouncing all over and I have all the things I need to keep my energy up.
So, with all this running and lack of hydration one would assume my weight would be down... yeah, today ready 193.1. So, I am switching it up. I am focusing on hydration big time and I am going to add a short strength workout after work. Nothing big, just a little addition that will benefit me overall. Good grief, at my size weight loss should not be this difficult however it is proving to be very tough. I just want to get below 190 by the end of March. Seriously, it's about time.
Some things that I know hindered my weight loss: I was not journaling as much as I should so I probably overate. I was not consuming water like I should hence my dehydration. But I cannot say I wasn't working my ass off because that I definitely was doing. It's just proof that weight loss has a whole lot to do with nutrition and you can't just exercise yourself skinny.

Good weekend
Yesterday I ran 9 miles!!!! And I lived to tell about it!!!! Hahaha, just kidding. It actually felt great. I was very nervous because on the 8th (my 31st birthday) I had to run 4 miles and at 3.5 miles my knee was KILLING me. I had a physician I work with take a look and he bumped up my anti-inflammatory to twice a day and encouraged rest.... Well I rested Friday and bumped up my medication but by Saturday I ran, and ran, and ran, and ran and finished 9 miles. I felt great at the end and have been icing my knee regularly so hopefully that helps.
And then I weighed in... 190.1!!!! Lowest yet so that made me happy. I kinda feel like I have plateaued if I were to be honest. I've been watching my calories and running my rear end off - sometimes I think maybe my body thinks I am starving it??? I swear, I eat plenty but it's hard with all the running and finding the balance between calories, protein, carbs - it really effects my ability to kick it into high gear when I am running.
I really hope the time change doesn't mess with me in the AM. But, I am very excited for more daylight and the opportunity to get outdoors... and I'm nervous too. But I can't run that 1/2 marathon on the treadmill so it needs to happen sometime!

Sugar Binge.
I didn't weigh in today. I have this thing where I don't want to weigh in when I have my period. T.M.I. but again, my blog so I say what I want.
I will say the last three days my diet has been HORRENDOUS. Beyond horrendous. I literally eat junk. It makes me feel like crap so I don't know what possesses me to eat it. I need to nip it in the bud and fast. Lucky for me I had my 8 mile run on Saturday and a 4 mile run today so hopefully that will help to offset it a little but good grief, I need to gain back some of my control.
So, I will be weighing myself next Monday for the official weigh in but not today - just won't go there.

Measurement Month 2
March 1st is here and it's measurement day! I was very excited this AM when my hubby so kindly measured me. Obviously the first month's changes were more impressive - after all, I did lose more weight that month. so here they are:
so, that is 3.5 inches off my chest, 3 inces off my waist, 4 inches off my hips, 1.25 inches off my arms and .5 inches off my thighs... total of 12.25 inches off my body. CRAZINESS! Not gonna lie but I'm pretty happy with those thus far. Today I weighed in at 191.5... you know what that means kids? This girl gets to schedule her first massage! I told myself that after my first 20 pounds I would get a massage and I could definitely use it! Generally I am not too sore but this week I am. I am pumped and I needed the scale to give me a motivational number this AM. It dawned on me that in one pound I would have lost 10% of my body weight - how crazy is that? Geez. Happy Thursday!!!
| Start | Month 1 | Month 2 | |
| Chest | 45 | 42 | 41.5 |
| Belly Button | 41 | 39 | 38 |
| Hips | 48 | 45 | 44 |
| L Arm | 14.75 | 14 | 13.5 |
| L Leg | 27 | 27 | 26.5 |
